Architect-designed cabins perched in the Val d'Hérens

Presentation Practical information
From the treetops to the forefront of tourism.

At the entrance to the Val d'Hérens, Nax stretches out under its Valaisan sun, facing breathtaking panoramas of the Bernese Alps. In this authentic village, with its vibrant traditions and traditional architecture, the fabulous story of Nestwood began, an adventure that is about to open a new chapter in Swiss tourism.

Since 2006, Bertrand Bitz has been gradually building his innovative hotel project, managing to make possible what was once unthinkable: obtaining a specially approved forest area for the construction of treehouses. At the end of 2016, cantonal and federal authorizations were finally granted, thanks in particular to the unwavering support of the President of the Commune of Mont-Noble, Bernard Bruttin, elected officials and residents, the Bourgeoisie of Nax, and Thomas de Belleville (alias Darp), the artistic director of the project. Its 8 architect-designed cabins (savioz fabrizzi architectes), all unique and different, will indeed make their nests in the heart of 5000m2 of a centuries-old larch forest on the heights of Nax.

Experiencing the thrill of sleeping in treehouses worthy of a high-end hotel, at 1400m altitude in a lush forest, will be a first in the heart of the Valais Alps and in Switzerland.

This new approach to tourism is no coincidence. Bertrand Bitz is a native of the region who already loved meeting his friends in the world of his treehouse after school in Nax. Having become the director of the regional tourism office, he felt the growing need of vacationers to share intense emotions in remote and nature-close places. With these exceptional nights cradled at the treetops, couples, families, friends, and companies will in turn experience these new emotions.

A concept supported by GastroSuisse (the Swiss hotel and restaurant federation) and the Swiss Hotel Credit Society (SCH), which awarded it the Swiss Innovation Prize in June 2018, the Hotel Innovations-Award 2018. A recognition and strong support from the industry, won thanks to the project's economic realism, its added value for the region, and not forgetting the human values it embodies.

Currently, Bertrand Bitz, in collaboration with Swiss companies specialized in hospitality (D&D Hospitality Projects GmbH and Thomann Hospitality Management AG), is seeking a financial partner to finalize the funding and bring this concept to life, similar to the renowned Swedish TreeHotel, which is already highly anticipated in Switzerland.
