Sleep in a former courthouse

Practical information
"Intrigue at the Palace of Justice"
With a new courthouse designed by Jean Nouvel on the Île de Nantes, the impressive neoclassical building on Place Aristide Briand has found a second life by hosting an ambitious project open to the city. After three years of meticulous rehabilitation, this historic building, which was once a place of constrained passage, has become a four-star hotel where elegance and modernity harmoniously dialogue with the past.
Behind its imposing façade, the Radisson Blu Hotel de Nantes reveals an interior transformed by renowned architect Jean-Philippe Nuel. The challenge was to bring light and life into a building once perceived as austere. The thick stone walls and the original half-windows have given way to large bay windows, flooding the majestic hall, formerly the salle des pas perdus, with natural light. This space, once used for solemn hearings, is now reimagined as a warm and welcoming area.
At the heart of this former courthouse, you will discover the restaurant "À Partager," located in the majestic courtroom of assizes, now adorned with contemporary touches that highlight its historic architecture. This unique venue invites guests to a one-of-a-kind culinary experience, where seasonal dishes and local products are elevated in a convivial atmosphere. The bar "Le Préambule" also welcomes you for a moment of relaxation, whether around a drink or a sharing platter.
The rooms, carefully designed by Jean-Philippe Nuel, combine designer furniture with modern comfort. Every detail, from the bedding to the decorative touches, has been thoughtfully crafted to provide a relaxing atmosphere. The large bay windows allow guests to enjoy natural light, and some rooms even offer views of Faustin Hélie Park, located just opposite. You can also enjoy your breakfast in your room to start the day gently.
You will appreciate the wealth of amenities available, including a full spa, modular meeting rooms totaling over 300 m², and a fitness room. This range of facilities makes this hotel an ideal choice for both leisure stays and business trips.
Ideally located, the hotel allows you to access Nantes' must-see attractions within a few minutes on foot. Le Lieu Unique, an emblematic cultural and artistic center, and the Carrousel des Mondes Marins, a flagship attraction of Les Machines de l’Île, are only a short walk away. From there, you can explore the historical treasures of the city of the dukes, such as the Château des Ducs de Bretagne or the Passage Pommeraye, a 19th-century architectural gem.
This rehabilitated former courthouse is not just a place to stay: it is an experience where the charm of the past meets the boldness of the present, offering its visitors an unforgettable setting to discover the richness and vitality of Nantes.
