Boutique hotel in the Marais
Presentation
Practical information
'Tailor' of rooms, Christian Lacroix has dressed this intimate hotel in the Marais.
In this district of Paris where street names evoke the beautiful French regions, Brittany, Saintonge, Perche, Poitou, two authentic 17th-century houses have hosted the Hotel du Petit Moulin since late 2004. One of them housed the oldest bakery in Paris dating back to the time of Henri IV. Its very pretty façade, renovated in 1900, has remained unchanged to this day. Classified as a Historic Monument, like its sign, it is well-known to the neighborhood's inhabitants.
This part of the Marais was once a semi-industrial district, with numerous tanneries and wholesale dealers of men's clothing; as a nod to history, it is here that the designer chose to leave his mark on the interior decoration of this intimate 4-star hotel by creating 17 unique atmospheres for the 17 rooms.
To decorate them according to their light, ceiling height, and view, Christian Lacroix played with beams, terracotta tiles, colorful fabrics, outdated wallpaper, leather, understated canvases, and contemporary furniture.
Each room corresponds to an approach to the neighborhood, rustic Marais, vintage, design Marais, or more playful.
"This room may therefore have cornices, consoles, and moldings, while that one is more pop or more rustic. Some are a bit Grand Genre, others a bit kitsch or a bit zen to symbolize all facets of the Marais, from toile de Jouy to sixties design," explains Christian Lacroix.
..:: 2019 New Feature ::.. Free access to the Spa (fitness, treatment room, hammam, jacuzzi) and bike loan at Hotel le Pavillon de la Reine (nearby Place des Vosges, a 10-minute walk away).
