Practical information
The Birds' Island of Les Sources de Caudalie decorated by Maxime Simoens
At the gates of Bordeaux, the Sources de Caudalie are nestled in the heart of the Graves vineyards. Since 1999, Alice and Jérôme Tourbier have been welcoming their guests to this enchanting environment consisting of 40 rooms and 9 suites spread across five houses. These five buildings evoke a universe of the Aquitaine region, its ocean, its basin, its architecture, its terroirs, and its trades.
Thus, the Bâtisse des Grands crus refers to the vineyards; Le Comptoir des Indes recalls the colonial history between Bordeaux, Great Britain, and the Indies; the Maison du Lièvre, a typical Landes house, is a nod to this animal unloved by winemakers; the Grange au Bateau and the Ile aux Oiseaux evoke fishing and the Arcachon Bay.
The Ile aux Oiseaux is the emblematic suite, a replica of the mythical stilted cabins of the Arcachon Bay, it proves to be a true haven for lovers of nature and minimalist design.
After entrusting its decoration to Maison Martin Margiela for the 10th anniversary of the Sources de Caudalie, Alice Tourbier called on a rising star of Haute Couture in 2013, Maxime Simoens. The Ile aux Oiseaux was then adorned with the atmosphere of Delphine Manivet, known for her wedding dresses.
Today, it is the couturier Rabih Kayrouz who adorns this vast and bright suite, "designed as a large sculpture." A white setting punctuated with inspiring and vintage objects like these colorful hookahs and fabrics from the Orient that invite you to travel.
