Sleeping in a cabin on the water
Presentation
Practical information
Let your cabin drift on a pond, it's fun: you can paddle with your family!
Not long ago, calves, cows, and pigs occupied the meadows of Domaine des Ormes, in Dol de Bretagne, halfway between the corsair city of Saint-Malo and the Mont Saint-Michel abbey. The de la Chesnaie family, a family from Saint-Malo and owners of the estate since 1850, ventured into tourism as early as 1977 with the "Castel camping" of... 60 pitches. Since the first swimming pool replaced the corn silo, the estate has continued to grow, diversify its offerings (equestrian center, golf, etc.), and innovate (unusual accommodations) to become a key player in outdoor hospitality in the Greater West.
Around the 16th-century château, 250 hectares of nature and numerous bodies of water.
Half-boat, half-island, the cabins can drift away when you push on the pole. They then float along the water. Drop anchor wherever you like, and from the deckchairs on your terrace, you can watch barnacle geese, swans, ducks, and wild geese that have made their home on the pond.
Our favorite is the floating cabin Dérive, the very first floating cabin of the estate, which, as its name suggests, moves with poles at your whim!
✯ Open from February to early November ✯
