Unusual youth hostel in Venice (YHA)
Presentation
Practical information
When a grain warehouse becomes a chic and retro address.
In the great trend of new-generation hotels, a mix of industrial, design, and a good dose of vintage, youth hostels compete with good intentions. We are already far from Aunt Augustine's youth hostels.
In Venice, on the island of Giudecca and right next to the very exclusive Hotel Cipriani, on the edge of the canal and directly facing St. Mark's Square, this former grain warehouse from 1855 has everything to please families and trendy young people.
Behind an industrial brick façade, the Ostello Venezia is cozy and also takes you back in time. Anwar Mekhayech, who is responsible for the decor, has mixed the eras. You will find restored marble columns, moldings, and exposed beams mixed with baroque furniture, mismatched armchairs, colorful rugs, and pool tables.
A style that is both retro and urban, a signature of the Generator group that brings old buildings back to life.
Depending on your budget, you can choose a bed in a very pretty dormitory (mixed or not) or a charming room with a bathroom and a view of the canal. From a double room to a true family room (5 people).
A 10-minute vaporetto ride from St. Mark's Square, Zitelle station, a sought-after address at ultra-affordable prices in this former warehouse.
