In the trees or on stilts
Presentation
Practical information
Stilt houses and treehouses in the heart of the Quénécan forest, the little Breton Switzerland.
Welcome to the site of the Forges de Salles, a former ironworking village whose operation ceased in 1877.
The finest example of industrial heritage in Côtes-d'Armor, this site once housed one of the largest charcoal forges in Brittany. Since then, nothing has changed. From industrial facilities to housing, from the canteen to the school, passing by the chapel, the grocery store, the stables, and not forgetting the terraced gardens, everything can be visited, either alone or accompanied by a guide.
To learn more about the Forges de Salles, you can visit their official website.
The surrounding forest is home to 8 unique accommodations: 5 treehouses and 3 stilt cabins by the edge of the Fourneau pond.
Built with larches and Douglas firs from the surrounding forest, these cabins host 2 to 5 people seeking rest, well-being, and peaceful moments as only forest sites near a body of water can offer. With the Quénécan forest, the Guerlédan lake (the largest lake in Brittany), and the Nantes to Brest canal nearby, there's no need to rush to Saint-Malo, wait in line at the Mont, cross to Belle-Ile, or head off to surf at the Pointe de la Torche—you have everything at hand to relax and perhaps forget about your car for a while!
Fisherman's huts or trapper's cabins for the stilt cabins? The terrace will settle the debate at sunset.
8, 10, or 11 meters? Oak or beech? Again, it's the terrace that will win everyone over, especially that of the newest cabin, the Cabane de Guerlédan, with its panoramic terrace overlooking the Forges.
Whether as a couple, with friends, or as a family, you are expected on this estate spanning several hectares, straddling the Côtes-d'Armor and Morbihan, just 1 hour and 30 minutes from Rennes, Loctudy, or Plouescat, in this beautiful Brittany we all love.
