First social and solidarity hotel in Paris
Presentation
Practical information
Socially responsible and warm
Solidarity-based, fair, sustainable, eco-responsible – the terms are many, but what is a 'solidarity-based' hotel?
First and foremost, it is a tourist hotel, and Zazie Hotel is a charming 2* located in a lively neighborhood in eastern Paris, between Nation and Bastille, whose uniqueness lies in its mission of integration through economic activity (IAE).
Its founder, Anne-Sophie de Boulois, wanted to take action and improve people's lives by "working on work." In 2012, she decided to change her professional life and move mountains to take over a neighborhood hotel and transform it. Hôtel Mistral became Zazie Hotel, the first and only solidarity-based hotel in Paris, labeled as a 'solidarity-based and socially useful enterprise' the following year.
By combining the economic performance of the business with social utility, Anne-Sophie envisioned a hotel as the perfect tool to help people distanced from employment and give them a fresh start. Of course, it was necessary to rethink work organization and reintegrate everything that could provide activity (cleaning rooms, laundry, for example). The creation of an elevator became a whole symbol; in this caring environment, employees develop skills, gain confidence, and prove that everyone can work.
Naturally, Zazie Hotel is also labeled with Green Key: furniture is second-hand (except for beds and textiles!), appliances are refurbished, and consumption is responsible.
As a local actor, Zazie also promotes the alternative of participatory local tourism in partnership with local stakeholders.
When booking a room, not all Zazie customers are aware of the house's particular ethics, but they are happy to contribute to this approach, and many return. Tourists, visiting relatives, or professionals on business trips, we can all choose to give meaning to our choices: on our next visit to Paris, let's think of Zazie!
Good to know: in fine weather, the extraordinary breakfast can also be enjoyed on the small terrace in front of the hotel.
