Night in an unusual water tower

Practical information
When a reflection on the place of modern heritage in rural areas offers a Room Under The Stars
Between Mont de Marzan and Agen, Lagraulet-du-Gers is a dynamic commune that has managed to create a link between past and present with this remarkable architectural and tourist achievement of their project: la Chambre Sous les Etoiles.
By installing a guest room in its disused water tower, the town hall has brought this building back to life in the center of this 13th-century castle village.
Entirely made of concrete and decorated with a colorful fresco by Jean-Paul Chambas, the water tower has become a modern heritage site, a bridge between eras by associating it with the Camino de Santiago.
The artist of Gers origin, Jean-Paul Chambas, is both a renowned scenographer and painter; he has notably created sets in the most prestigious opera houses in France and abroad. Today, his frescoes can still be found in the Chaussée d'Antin metro station in Paris (1991) and Mermoz in Toulouse (1992). The commune of Lagraulet-de-Gers is proud to contribute to democratizing culture by presenting this contemporary creation in a public and rural location.
Shaped like a champagne cork, the water tower has three levels, accessible by elevator, within the former tanks. Kitchen and dining area on the ground floor, a polished concrete bathroom and toilet on the 1st floor. On the 2nd floor, a bedroom with a double bed (160 cm) from which you can see the starry sky through an oculus: La Chambre Sous Les Etoiles.
An exterior staircase leads you to the beautiful terrace with a panoramic view of the Armagnac vineyards (astronomy binoculars available upon request).
