Das Park Hotel

A concrete pipe and a bed, and here is an experimental hotel that won't cost you too much.

Since 2005, in Ottensheim, along the Danube, Das Park Hotel opens its three concrete tubes, usually used for pipelines, to anyone who desires for a modest fee, as you pay what you want.

Once the door is opened using the code provided at booking, you discover a comfortable double bed, storage, a (small) window, and a light.

Andreas Strauss, the Austrian designer behind this contemporary and affordable hotel project, explains that concrete is a good insulator both acoustically and thermally, and it provides security to those who are about to spend a night in a public place. It’s hard to move a 9.5-ton room ツ

..:: OUverture 2015 ::.. The concept has expanded to Germany near Essen. The 5 rooms of the Park Hotel-BernePark are located in a park that directly connects to the Emscher bike path.
