Glamping at the Ferme de la Folivraie - Un Lit au Pré, an immersion in the rhythm of Norman nature.
For this nature stay experience, we head to the Bessin coast, in Calvados.
At La Folivraie, the family farm of Marguerite-Marie and Jacques, they practice organic market gardening and raise about thirty dairy cows. Holstein or Jersey, here the cows are the center of all attention and only know grass and hay. Zen cows living at the rhythm of the seasons produce naturally good milk.
Jacques likes to explain their choice of an extensive agriculture that reflects them, respectful of the land, animals, and consequently of people.
The six glamping tents of Un Lit au Pré have found their place in a meadow of the estate. Half-canvas, half-wood, tastefully furnished, lit by oil lamps and candles, they accommodate up to 6 people. A chic outdoor habitat featuring two bedrooms and an enclosed bed, real beds, and thick wool duvets. The centerpiece, the wood stove, is essential to warm up the cool spring mornings and cook. We recommend the farmer's stew, a homemade recipe to prepare in the cauldron. Pure slow food, a real delight.
You do your shopping at the pantry (regional products, fruits and vegetables, everything is there, including fire starters) and note your consumption. All in good faith.
On the farm, children love playing in the open air with the chickens, goats, and rabbits, milking the cows, feeding milk to the calves Jonquille and Jolie, entering the chicken coop on their own like grown-ups to collect fresh eggs, rolling in the hay, making friends, and simply having the time... just having time.
Sleeping at La Folivraie is also a timeless family journey because here the pace is different. Making coffee requires a completely different organization than a Nespresso capsule, that's clear. In three nights, you will already be transformed.
