Recreation in Ambronay
Chants and recitations echoed within the walls of this communal school, and in the playground, the great lime trees witnessed countless games since 1870. But in 2014, having become too small, the René Cassin school was about to be sold by the Town Hall.
It was at this precise moment that Nathalie Schlienger, coming from the world of graphic arts, a fan of antiques and trade furniture, fell under the charm of the beautiful 1000m2 building.
It took a year of work and a lot of talent to make this project a success. While preserving the soul of the school, the mistress of the house opened a soothing guest house, a place full of decorating ideas, colors, delicacies, and poetry.
The teachers' lounge has become a living room, and the CP classroom has been transformed into a charming breakfast room. You will sleep in one of the four former classrooms transformed into spacious and bright rooms: CE1, CE2, CM1, and CM2 are all unique and subtly decorated with repurposed objects.
45 minutes from Lyon and 20 minutes from Pérouges, Ambronay is a renowned destination for its Benedictine abbey, the very place hosting the famous baroque music festival, and its charming alleys. Perfect for a gourmet and relaxing weekend.
..:: Note ::.. to discover La Maison d'Ambronay, let yourself be tempted by its brunch or its table d'hôtes. Every day and by reservation.
