Unusual guest room on the Ile de Houat
Presentation
Practical information
At the tip of Ental, spend your nights sheltered in a small fort.
There is something new at the fort at the tip of Ental, in Houat. After 18 months of work, May de Fougerolles opens the doors of this 19th-century fort, which became a family home after her great-grandparents acquired it.
To bring this project to fruition, May did not hesitate to obtain a CAP in electricity and plumbing, enlist the help of the Compagnons du Devoir for the joinery and the framework of the partitions, as well as a mason working in traditional methods. Her cousin Armelle, leaving her job as an emergency nurse, also went back to school; with a CAP in carpentry under her belt, she returns to the island to take care of the furniture and interior design.
Throughout the year, the fort hosts up to 15 people, either nightly or weekly.
Unique and warm, the five rooms are adaptable for 2 to 6 people. And all of them are equipped with wood stoves! For dinner, you have the fort's kitchen at your disposal or the guest table open by reservation. Traditional meals or seafood meals, but always with local and organic products!
