Night perched between Béarn and Basque Country
Presentation
Practical information
Stroll, dream and suspend time in Béarn.
Surprising experience in a small village in the west of Béarn, between Sauveterre de Béarn and Navarrenx.
A unique village because Laàs is a self-proclaimed principality of the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. True story!
Adding to this amusing story is the presence of a stunning estate: the domaine of Laàs and its 17th-century manor house designed by its last owners - Louis and Madeleine Serbat, a couple passionate about art - as a setting for their collections. Today, visitors come here to discover one of the finest collections of decorative arts in Aquitaine, from Aubusson or Gobelins tapestries to master paintings (Rubens, Brueghel, Fragonard), surrounded by superb gardens with century-old trees. French, Italian, or exotic gardens, as we wander through the 12 hectares of the park, our steps will lead us to the banks of the gave d'Oléron.
You can already guess that we are going to suggest extending the pleasure of strolling in this enchanting setting by spending the night... in a suspended cabin.
For its view of the gave d'Oléron, the Cabane des Pyrénées will be the best located, especially thanks to its suspended net where you can lounge at the top of this majestic 130-year-old Lebanese cedar. Inspired by Japanese design, the Shibumi, or 7th Heaven Cabin with its grand round bed perched 7 meters high, these three retreats are shared exclusively by two.
From 2 years old, if their eyes light up at the mention of brave knights and valiant princesses or the iconic brown bear and celestial constellations, children will have a rich adventure falling asleep by our side, rocked by their imagination. Cabane des Chevaliers and its small private beach as well as the Cabane de la Grande Ourse equipped with an astronomical telescope and books welcome families or groups of friends from 3 to 5 people.
The château of Laàs hides two more secrets, known only to insiders for now: an "escape game". A clever mixture of puzzles to solve, objects to find or manipulate to succeed in under 60 minutes in the mission we accept to undertake: attempting the entrance exam of the Poudlaàs School of Witchcraft or stealing a precious diamond at the heart of the 19th century. What role is made for you?
And in spring 2018, a games trail will introduce the gardens to the youngest visitors (from 4 years old).
Strolling, relaxing, or playing, all reasons are good to suspend time at Laàs.
✯ Open from February to December✯
