Equestrian center & Unusual estate
Presentation
Practical information
A divine place between sea and countryside.
At the border of Somme and Seine-Maritime, between ponds and the sea, Marie-Annick and Jérôme Maillard delight both nomads and settlers since they embarked on the adventure of the Lieu Dieu estate.
In the 12th century, this vast 70-hectare estate housed a Cistercian abbey, a farm, and a sheepfold. Today, its walls bordered by ponds and the Bresle host charming and comfortable cottages with character in the former sheepfolds. Families and groups of friends gather there for large meals or long bucolic walks by the water. Further away, lovers relax in the shade of beeches on the terrace of L’Oie Rieuse, the estate's floating house. A family finds refuge in one of the five gypsy caravans, another in the authentic Mongolian yurt or in la Goutte d'Ô! perched above the canal crossing the estate, …
The Lieu Dieu estate is also an equestrian center with more than 70 horses and ponies. An avid rider and nature enthusiast, Marie-Annick develops numerous nature escapes. The more athletic will head to the sea on foot or by bike to work up an appetite – about ten kilometers – or indulge in wakeboarding, water skiing, kneeboarding, or wakeskating at the cable water ski park. Fans of relaxation, trout, roach, or pike await you for exciting (no-kill) fishing sessions in the great outdoors between Le Tréport and the Baie de Somme.
