Experience the life of the lords of Maisonseule
At Saint-Basile, in the Monts d’Ardèche Regional Natural Park, between mountains and pastures, the Château de Maisonseule welcomes guests seeking peaceful tranquility in its five absolutely unique rooms.
This feudal fortress, originally built for defense, was gradually modified over time and developed around its significant 13th-century keep, known as the Saint-Louis keep. Yves Lecoq, its current owner, has restored and furnished each room with great precision. The rooms, located in the keep and the main wing of the château, take us through the history of the successive lords of the estate: the Baron de La Mastre, the lords of Sahune, the Count of Monfaucon, Phélise d’Asseyne, and the bailiff of the County of Joyeuse, whose room where the Bailiff rested after collecting the tithe could be yours!
Thanks to its strategic position and 750m altitude, this fortress overlooks the picturesque valleys of the Doux and Eyrieux and offers enchanting views of the nature surrounding the estate. To explore the wooded 85-hectare park on foot or by bike (provided on-site), eight discovery trails have been designed by your hosts. An invitation to awaken your senses and whet your appetite! Because in the evening, at the beautifully set tables in the château, the Chef offers organic, local, and seasonal products.
✯ The Château de Maisonseule no longer offers guest rooms. However, it is possible to privatize it for events or seminars. ✯
