Do-It-Yourself hotel in Berlin
Presentation
Practical information
The smallest house in the world, it's in Berlin and it's wherever you want!
Imagined by Berlin architect Van Lee Bo-Mentzel and first exhibited at the BMW Guggenheim Lab in Berlin in 2012, the One SQM House is a pure Do-It-Yourself project.
If you want it in your garden, in your office, in a hallway, at the entrance of the bakery, ... the plans are free and available here. Free doesn't mean "self-service", an exchange of plans for photos and anecdotes will be appreciated.
If you don't quite feel like a handyman, Van Lee Bo-Mentzel (in partnership with the Eastseven Hostel) offers them to you in Berlin for €1 per night.
This way, you'll be able to enjoy the bathrooms and common rooms of the hostel as well as its Wi-Fi.
If you feel like touring Berlin, like a snail with your house on your back, know that it fits in the subway or the trunk of a van. Weighing in at 40kg, equipped with wheels and narrower than doorways, it will easily follow you on your journey.
As a recent advertiser said: it's up to you to imagine the life that goes with it!
So whether you're students, adventurers, explorers, or just curious, welcome to the smallest hotel in the world!
