In the heart of Berlin, just a few minutes from the Reichstag, the Brandenburg Gate, or the Spree, the Arte Luise Kunsthotel has achieved a crazy challenge. That of building a small hotel where artists and art enthusiasts could meet, exchange, create, and make music together. This idea dates back to before the fall of the wall, but it wasn't until 1994 that the 'Künstlerheim' (artists' lodge) opened in an abandoned building on Luisenstrasse.
In a palace-style building dating from 1825, now a listed historic monument, and its more modern annex, about fifty internationally renowned artists have transformed a room into a work of art.
The soul of the place is preserved; the magic has worked.
