Suspended nest in the Welsh forest
Presentation
Practical information
From my little hidden paradise in Wales, I dream of peace.
The UK's very first suspended tent has landed near Builth Wells (Powys) in Wales, a town well-known for its Royal Welsh Show and its Spring Festival.
Anjana and David Devoy have nestled their suspended tent, Red Kite Tree Tent, at the edge of the vast pine forest which also houses Red Kite Barn, a barn that the couple has restored using traditional techniques (available for rental).
Once you cross the small bridge, you need to look at the trees to spot this surprising sphere which, despite its 3m diameter, manages to blend into the environment.
Built from aluminum and wood, perfectly insulated with wool, it is suspended between the pines by an ingenious system that preserves them.
The location was carefully chosen, and this nest, hidden from view and bathed in sunlight, overlooks a small stream, a soothing companion for our stationary journey that can also serve by generating renewable energy and cooling your drinks.
Cut off from the world, the conditions are perfect to feel free, dream in peace, and enjoy a beautiful glamping experience. Stay close to nature, at bird level with a view of the surrounding Welsh forest and the flight of the red kite, in high-end camping conditions where everything has been thought of. On the outdoor platform, there is a stove, sink, running water, hot shower, and toilet, while in the suspended tent, there is clever furniture, a double bed, and a wood stove.
This private 32-hectare estate extends westward into National Trust lands. Suffice it to say, to encounter another soul, you would need to venture in the opposite direction, towards Llanafan Fawr and the region's most renowned pub, the Red Lion. But is it really necessary?
