Unusual accommodation in Sweden
Presentation
Practical information
The Treehotel alone is worth a trip: a collection of seven luxurious cabins, uniquely designed and in perfect harmony with nature.
In a corner of Swedish Lapland, nestled in the boreal forest, the seven rooms of this hotel form a truly unique concept. Kent and Britta Lindvall collaborated with famous Swedish architects and designers to create a collection of seven absolutely unique treehouse rooms, built in harmony with nature, perched in pine trees between 4 and 10 meters above the ground, successfully combining ecology and design.
The interior of each room is unique, with furniture and lighting designed specifically for this project.
✭The Bird’s nest. A real construction challenge for this oversized bird's nest, 6m above the ground. The concept is based on the contrast of materials between the exterior branches and the soft, spacious, and comfortable interior of the nest, ideal for a family (17 m2, 2 separate bedrooms, 1 double bed, and 2 single beds). Magical: retract the foldable ladder and enjoy the moment.
✭The blue cone. A small red wooden house, accessible for people with reduced mobility via a ramp (22 m2, 1 double bed, and 2 single beds).
✭The cabin. A capsule room on the hillside (24 m2 for 2 people) offering a superb view of the valley and the Lulea river, from the terrace it feels like dominating the treetops.
✭The UFO. A UFO worthy of science-fiction movies has landed in the trees (30 m2 for 4 people, 1 double bed, and 2 single beds), a retractable ladder leads you there.
✭The Dragonfly. The largest room (for 2-4 people), transformable into a conference space for 12 people, built in 2013.
✭The Mirrorcube. This 4-meter by 4-meter cube entirely clad in mirrors reflects the sky and surrounding nature as much as you want. Six windows inside offer breathtaking views, and everything is designed for a couple's comfort. From the panoramic rooftop terrace, you might have the chance to witness the majestic northern lights.
This refuge was designed by two Swedish architects, Bolle Tham & Martin Videgård.
(Note: to protect birds, an infrared film is laminated into the glass, preventing birds from colliding with the mirrors).
✭The 7th room (2017). The experience begins as soon as you approach the cabin, offering guests a new perspective. Covering the bottom of this all-black cabin, a 12m by 8m black-and-white print gives a new view of the treetops. At 10m high, the cabin opens onto a large net that has become a suspended patio. A starry net to observe the northern lights and sleep among the treetops of Lapland. Designed by Snøhetta.
Dinner time approaches, and a dilemma arises. Take a short walk to the Britta's Pensionat -an essential place that houses the reception, the restaurant, a bar, the sauna, TV, and an internet connection- or admire the nature, the silence, the beauty of the surroundings? If you don't want to come down from your room, dinner will be served there. Everyone agrees to praise the healthy cuisine based on fresh and local produce. Another good point for the Treehotel.
Whatever date you choose, under the midnight sun or at -30°C, you will succumb to this unique experience.
