Like Diogenes in his barrel... at the German border
In the small wine-growing village of Trasadingen in the canton of Schaffhausen, barrels are transformed into overnight accommodations. Imposing, they can accommodate up to 36 people.
Mattresses, wool blankets, and pillows are provided; you only need to bring a sleeping bag.
Due to its success, the Rüedi family has increased the number of "barrels" and now offers you the choice of staying in the old barrels (Alte Fässer) or the new barrels (Neue Fässer).
The old ones remain unchanged. However, the new ones are much more modern and offer a little more comfort and a bit less authenticity. You will find, among other things, a toilet, a shower, ... and a television in the rooms of the Neue Fässer.

Rates 2021, ⊹ Old barrels (Alte Fässer):
45 CHF for one person or 90 CHF for two people, breakfast included
⊹ New barrels (Neue Fässer):
105 CHF for one person or 170 CHF for two people, breakfast included
⊹ Pinot Suite New in 2020 :
295 CHF per night for two, breakfast, butler, and taxes included.

The Rüedi is one of the very first hotels featured in our guide. The price has changed since 2007, as at the time you could only sleep in the old barrels and the cost was 26 CHF / person.We are delighted to celebrate the success of this family who managed to repurpose their business, and most importantly, let people know about it!
