Unusual stay in Fribourg
Presentation
Practical information
A completely crazy inn, vacation home for trolls and leprechauns on the go.
Here is a truly unique inn, worth spending a weekend in Fribourg on its own!
The Auberge was created in the late 90s on the Grandfey estate by the Biel residents Res Balzli and Catherine Portmann, with the help of Olivier Suter, all three known in the contemporary art scene.
Since 2006, the Auberge has been managed by a collective that warmly welcomes us, opening the living room, library, dining room, and the 8 rooms of this surprising house to take us on a journey.
On this property, once a hunting refuge turned splendid mansion of the Ancien Régime, the vast garden with its breathtaking view of the Saint-Nicholas Cathedral and the Pont de la Poya in Fribourg is dotted with artworks and an unreal bar.
The dining room, open to the park, is more recent. Cheerful, colorful, and bright thanks to its glass roofs, this is where - or in the garden - breakfasts, brunches, and the seasonal menu served at the Auberge are enjoyed.
Our favorite? The Blue Room for its vintage bathtub mounted on rails that slides onto the balcony surrounded by honeysuckle. Romantic just the way we like it!
..:: The 9 rooms of the auberge have been redecorated in travel-inspired themes. With this opening in March 2017, a new adventure begins ::..

Comments
Without forgetting the restaurant of the Auberge aux Quatre Vents or Aux Quatre Vents and its seasonal menus, a highly recommended address in the region. Open on Monday from 2 p.m., closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, and from Thursday to Sunday, open from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.And how do you get to this corner of paradise? On nice days, you can even walk there (about 30 minutes from the train station). Otherwise, by car (around CHF 20 by taxi) or by bus (line 1 heading towards Portes de Fribourg). After about ten minutes of walking towards Grandfey, the country road leads you to the Auberge.
