First Capsule Hotel in Switzerland
The very first Capsule Hotel in Switzerland opened in Lucerne at the end of 2018, just a few minutes' walk from the train station and the lake.
Widely used in Japan for about thirty years, these budget hotels offer small stacked spaces usually aligned along a corridor. Here, the standard modules (Relax Capsule) have an area of 3 cubic meters and provide the necessary comfort to recharge: mattress, blankets, cushions, ultra-fast internet connection, USB charging port, ventilation system, and adjustable heating. Optional features include a flat-screen TV (Capsule mit TV) or a capsule in a women-only area (Female Capsule). The luxury version (Premium Capsule) looks more like a classic room.
The Capsule Hotel in Lucerne is fully automated (even check-in and check-out), and once the online payment is made, an access code and the assigned capsule number sent by email will serve as a digital key.
All that's left is to slip into a blue-lit pod, and we’re almost weightless aboard a spaceship.
