The Geek hotel in Amsterdam
Presentation
Practical information
For the happiness of those who have always wanted to sleep in a spaceship.
From the outside, it's a fairly ordinary Amsterdam building. But this is not a hotel like the others.
First clue: check-in is done at a kiosk that hands out bracelets that hold surprises for you. Don't worry, a host assists you with the process!
Upon discovering the rooms, you'll truly feel like you're in another dimension. Here, no carpets or moldings, but a futuristic atmosphere, porthole doors, and colorful neon lights. No key either; the bracelet obtained at the kiosk opens the door to your capsule room.
Inside the capsule: a storage space that's entirely sufficient and a sleeping area that's completely disorienting, either elevated or at ground level (because the capsules are stacked that way). Rest assured, the bed is more spacious than space-like, and couples will appreciate the originality and comfort. The showers and restrooms are shared, but far from the dubious communal showers of youth hostels.
After exploring the property, stop by the bar where the bracelet lets you serve yourself a nice cold draft beer, which you'll pay for at the kiosk upon leaving. And before heading out—whether you're planning a gastronomic marathon at the nearby Foodhallen or visiting all the city's museums—don't forget to grab your Wi-Fi key, which allows you to stay connected for free wherever you are.
