The Lyonnais owe the Basilica of Notre-Dame-de-Fourvière to the architect Pierre Bossan, but also the Visitation convent located on the same hill. After extensive renovations, this mid-19th-century building with perfect symmetry now houses a luxurious and tranquil hotel.
The hill of Fourvière is emblematic of Lyon's history. In ancient times, it was the center of Lugdunum. In the 19th century, the Lyonnais erected the famous basilica, now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Today, it houses a temple of luxury: the Fourvière Hotel. Formerly the Visitation convent, the splendid brick and limestone building has become an ode to hedonism.
The enchantments of Lyon's gastronomy are showcased here in two aspects: Le Bouchon serves traditional local dishes, while the restaurant Les Téléphones offers a more modern take on bistronomy.
