Former chapel converted into a hotel
Presentation
Practical information
Place of worship revisited, the Chapelle du Gésu has become a unique and incomparable hotel in the city center of Poitiers.
In Poitiers, this former Jesuit chapel built in 1852 has experienced a slightly unconventional journey. Barely twenty years after opening its doors, it was closed for worship!
The Vienne department used it to house its departmental archives for 50 years, until architect François Pin orchestrated a majestic transformation of the site, creating a restaurant and a hotel with unique charm in the center of the Poitiers city in 2012.
In the lower part of the nave and the choir of the neo-Gothic chapel, the preserved architectural structure hosts the reception, the bar, and the aptly named restaurant Les Archives - a nod to its former function - and its open kitchens.
New inclined columns support the hotel rooms located above the restaurant. White concrete columns, like the superb staircase leading to the floor where 50 rooms are decorated by Design by O. for the rest of the body and soul of contemporary travelers.
