Between Provence and Luberon, surrounded by the Montagne de Lure and the Durance, the town of Forcalquier is a must-see for exploring the Alpes de Haute-Provence.
Its Monday morning market attracts crowds between alleys and squares, but who has noticed its cinema set up in the baroque church of the Vistandines convent?
3 km away, Tiffany - whom we met in front of the Tourist Office - and her husband Guillaume, a young and cheerful couple, are waiting for us at the Les Anes de Forcalquier estate. From the old Dauphin road, we take the path to reach 32 hectares at the heart of the Pouvarel countryside, eager to go on a walk with our two pack donkeys.
Whether a short or long hike with a guidebook, a sunset walk, discovery activities, or a treasure hunt, the adventure can be enjoyed by all ages on this estate, which stretches across woodlands and melon fields. A true treat for our long-eared friends! For us, it will be a 6 km walk between Forcalquier and Mane, with a stop under the shade of white oaks to picnic with Orion and Venus, our two new friends carrying children and our picnic.
Playful and affectionate travel companions who led us on a walk filled with laughter!
Why not extend this enchanted interlude with an overnight stay? Cottages, guest rooms, and two safari tents for relaxed 'camping' with all comforts await us in this gentle and soothing setting.
