Unusual guest room at Mas d'Acanthe
Presentation
Practical information
What if we created travel memories?
Le Luffan, it's the story of a boat transformed into a guest room between Orange and Avignon. A true Norwegian ketch from the 1950s that its new owners have installed on the grass by the pool, the bow facing the nature of this cherished part of Provence.
Michel's unique idea!
What if we put a boat in the garden? Michel suggested in the summer of 2013 when his two family guest rooms were fully booked for the season and couples regretted not being able to stay at Mas d'Acanthe. A joke that his wife Evelyne and he turned into a treasure hunt. For months, from Toulon to Narbonne, passing through La Ciotat and the Canal du Midi, they roamed shipyards and boat cemeteries until they finally stumbled upon their gem in Baucaire, 45 km from their home.
Le Luffan has not sailed for ten years already, but they love this boat: it is round, curved, blue, and all wood inside. Of course, with its 4.5 tons (9m long by 3m wide and 1.7m high), its arrival in the garden does not go unnoticed... Towing, craning, dismantling, and restructuring work, and it is finally ready to welcome its guests.
Once on board, you descend three steps because it is semi-buried in the ground; a living room and bench in the aft cabin and, in the forward cabin, a custom-made triangular bed to fit the shape of the hull. Outside, a terrace and pretty wooden cabins hiding the shower and sanitary facilities await the guests of Le Luffan.
Amused and full of humor, Evelyne's children reserved a funny surprise for her the following Christmas: the river and coastal licenses obtained at the beginning of 2015!
So what would you say to an absolutely unique stay in the Provençal Gard?
✯ Open from April to October ✯
