Former girls' school
Presentation
Practical information
A cleverly Art Deco girls' school.
In the center of Stockholm, the Miss Clara hotel occupies a former girls' school, right across from the Konserthuset where the Nobel Prizes are awarded.
Miss Clara -named after the school's first principal, Clara Stromberg- would undoubtedly have appreciated the wisdom of Swedish architect Gert Wingårdh. He preserved the high ceilings and large arched windows of this Art Deco building and relied on Swedish materials such as limestone, leather, oak, bentwood, and wooden flooring. But as a nod to the site's history, he added a few discreet feminine touches.
The breakfast buffet lifts everyone's spirits with its homemade delights: waffles, breads, cakes, jams, fresh fruit salad, even the sausage recipe is unique to the hotel! The bar and restaurant have been highly praised since the hotel opened in April 2014.
Just a two-minute walk from the pedestrian street Drottninggatan and Hötorget metro station, it's a lively neighborhood and a perfect location to quickly reach numerous sites, including the central station and Gamla Stan, the old town.
Good to know, here as elsewhere, the metro is perfect for getting around the city, but in Stockholm, over 90 of the 110 stations are decorated with works by about 150 artists: guided tours are organized. For those who wish to explore Stockholm off the beaten path, a good address for personalized guided tours is Guide Stockholm by Séverine ツ
