Observatory in Provence
Presentation
Practical information
Sleep to the rhythm of astronomers in a night station, it's unique in France!
A small village in the Hautes-Alpes holds the secret to exploring the map of constellations and understanding the deep sky. L'Observatoire des Baronnies Provençales has made its home in Moydans, where its 60 inhabitants enjoy the invigorating air and the bright sky.
Here, Marc and his wife Hélène opened in 2012 a high-tech observatory equipped with the largest private telescopes accessible to the general public and remotely controllable via the Internet! Thus, astronomers from around the world can observe the sky from this little corner of the Alps, between Nyons and Gap.

A slightly crazy family project that they gladly share with their guests welcomed for immersive stays. Staying on-site, sharing the passion, the emotion of professional astronomers, and taking control without being a scientist or even an astronomy enthusiast, what a chance to get a glimpse of this often unknown universe!
So in the observatory's dome, it's time to bring out telescopes and binoculars because tonight we have a date with the Moon, Venus, and Vega, who will reveal some of their secrets.
Accessible to all curious minds in the heart of the Parc Régional Naturel des Baronnies Provençales, L'Observatoire des Baronnies Provençales celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2016!
