Troglodyte guest room in Amboise
Presentation
Practical information
Amboise is well worth a troglo room!
Knowing how to seize an opportunity, a motto beautifully illustrated by the journey of Alexis and Lotte, a young couple welcoming us to their home in a small village perched on the banks of the Loire opposite Amboise.
For while it all began with a bit of luck, they needed courage to bring this project to fruition: transforming a troglodyte cave into a cozy nest carved into the white rock.
By purchasing at auction this cave that once belonged to a great-aunt, Alexis became the proud owner of a place where everything had to be done.
Starting with emptying it—imagine 25 years of accumulation—reinforcing the structure carved into the rock, digging sewage and electricity channels, installing plumbing...
Young and without solid finances, the couple couldn't find a bank to finance their project; so for three years they worked in a family restaurant in the region, saved the necessary amount, and then undertook the work themselves. A year of construction (the photos on their Facebook page speak for themselves) and here is the result: a chic, cozy troglo house with classic and period furniture and a beautiful room with an open bathroom reserved for guests from all over the world fascinated by the quaint charm and tranquility inspired by this home, the troglos, the castles, Leonardo da Vinci's Clos Lucé.
With its three troglo rooms full of charm, here is a wonderful base for exploring the lovely town of Amboise (two hours from Paris by TGV).
