Unusual guest room in Aix en Provence
Presentation
Practical information
As in a 1950s grocery store.
At the bend of an alley in old Aix near the Place des Cardeurs and its cafés, a guesthouse with incredible charm awaits you for your next weekend in Aix.
In this 18th-century family building, Luc has staged the images and scents of his childhood, adding a delightfully retro touch, creating an atmosphere suspended in time, just as a grocery store might have been in the 50s-60s.
Upstairs, the two bedrooms and two suites (up to four people) have gourmet names: Vanille, Cannelle, Calisson, and Pain d'épices. Some overlook the garden where, on sunny days, the hearty breakfast is served under the arbor. The rest of the year, breakfast is enjoyed in the main room on the ground floor.
A large convivial table is set in front of the typical shelves of old-fashioned grocery stores. Zinc counter, slot machine, old-fashioned white cotton women's undergarments, iron boxes, jam jars, advertisements, and colorful knick-knacks: Luc has patiently scoured flea markets, garage sales, and shops for all the decorative elements to transport his house back to the 50s.
With a very central location, you can happily explore on foot the squares, shops, and numerous fountains of Aix en Provence.
