Unusual romance 30 minutes from Liège
In the midst of the fields of the Pays de Herve lies the electric tower of Larbuisson. A witness to the electrification of rural areas in the 1930s, it had lost its purpose for about twenty years, but that was without counting on two ingenious local friends, Guy Zinnen and Robert Alonzi, who decided to transform it into a space dedicated to rest and artistic creation.
Inside, 4 years of work and many clever ideas were required to convert this confined space, without water or electricity. Everything had to be invented, and the challenge was brilliantly met. 2.50m by 2.50m, or 25m2 over 4 levels, which include a reception area on the ground floor, a kitchen on the first level, then a bathroom on the second, and the bedroom on the top floor.
At the top, the incredible bedroom with its glass roof offers a 360° view of the nature and changing skies of the Charneux countryside. This ever-changing spectacle surprises fortunate visitors from sunrise to sunset.
A change of scenery is guaranteed here, as one quickly feels far from the city. In this hilly country, between landscapes of meadows and charming villages, you may also meet some local producers.
And why not come by bike, taking the old railway line that crosses the picturesque Pays de Herve? The line 38 of the RAVel network is known as one of the most beautiful greenways in Belgium. 42 km reserved for soft mobility: walkers, joggers, horse riders, and cyclists.
