An elaborate façade, a roof with orange tiles… nothing seems to distinguish the Vintage Design Hotel Sax from the other buildings in Mala Strana, Prague's historic district. Only the discreet mention of "vintage design hotel" on the front gives it away. But once you step inside, the change of scenery is complete.
Gone are the old stones and medieval architecture, replaced by the charmingly kitsch aesthetic of the 1950s to 1970s.
The crème de la crème of bold post-war design is gathered here in an explosion of colors and materials. A wave of nostalgia that lightens the memory of a rather dull era; an elegant way to give Prague Spring the vibrant hues it so lacked.
