Unusual night in a glass igloo

Presentation Practical information
Under the northern lights exactly: Hotel & Igloo Village Kakslauttanen

The igloos of the small neighboring resort of Saariselkä are specially designed to admire the magical dance of the northern lights under a starry sky.

You are in Finnish Lapland, 250 km north of the Arctic Circle, 30 km from Ivalo airport, in a village of chalets built from pine logs (all equipped with private sauna and fireplace), with real igloos and thick reindeer skins to sleep on. And at the center of the village, in a large chalet, the traditional wood-heated sauna. A true classic.

But the real reason for your visit to this pristine setting is the night you will spend in one of the glass igloos scattered in the forest. Whether nature treats you to a snowstorm, a starry night, or northern lights, you will witness an incredible spectacle while lying in a real warm bed (21°).

To experience this immersion in nature, log chalets, traditional houses, peat bridal rooms, gold digger cabins, or Wood and Glass Igloos (Kelo/glass) are a great alternative. These Kelo pine wood igloos with fireplaces are luxury refuges with saunas, kitchens, and a wonderful glass-roofed bedroom (max 6 people).
Simple snow igloos will surprise you for a unique polar night, although they are reserved for the less chilly among us with a constant temperature of -3° to -6°...

During the winter season, from November to the end of April, lakes and rivers are frozen, and the region is covered with a thick layer of ice. So, if 'white fishing' or 'hole fishing' (i.e., through the ice) challenges your cold-weather gear (it's still between -10 and -15° outside), let yourself be tempted by a more active sport: tandem skiing, lasso throwing, sled driving with dog or reindeer teams, horseback riding, snowshoe walks, or building a Lappish tent.
In the summer, fishing is easier, unless you choose to become a gold prospector or prefer to stroll under the midnight sun (from late May to late July).
As in any charming village, there is a romantic chapel, also made of ice, where you can exchange your vows.
