Sleeping in a mobile cabin
Presentation
Practical information
Unique cabins on skis in the world.
In the far north of Finland, Inari is a labyrinth of tiny wild islands and vast forests of pine and birch trees. Each year, as winter settles over these vast tranquil expanses, the lake freezes and is explored on snowshoes, sledges, or skis, just like our host Esko.
In 2014, as Esko regretted not being able to enjoy more of the atmosphere of the frozen lake and its ever-changing skies in the evening, he designed a first prototype of a cabin on skis, "Cabin n°1". Today, thanks to one of his six mobile cabins, we too can admire the frozen landscapes and the Arctic night sky that he loves so much. In the warmth of this heated bedroom, the night will be unforgettable.
For safety reasons, between September and November, the cabins remain at the base camp. They will be towed onto the frozen lake from the end of November, as soon as the ice reaches a minimum thickness of 20 cm. In 2018, the lake was accessible from December 10th, which was the warmest year in 70 years.
