Sleeping in an ice hotel
Presentation
Practical information
The Norwegian Lapland will not leave you cold!
At the far north of Norway, in the splendid setting of the banks of the Alta River, a snow and ice hotel will open on January 6, 2015. It is on this date that the theme chosen for this 16th season will be revealed!
The only certainty, regardless of the weather and the outside temperature, the thermometer in your room will fluctuate between -4° and -7°. No worries, between the reindeer skins and the cozy sleeping bags, you will stay warm. Especially if you have taken care to follow the hotel's advice by bringing suitable underwear and a hat...
In your room, an ice bed and sculpted decorations, at the Ice bar ice glasses, and throughout the hotel, ephemeral ice artworks.
For comfort, count on the local specialties of Finnmark -the northernmost county of Norway-. Reindeer, grouse, salmon or king crab are served at the gourmet restaurant Laksestua. In this wooden building, right next to the hotel, there is also a room to store your luggage as well as heated bathrooms. Not to mention the sauna, of course!
The majestic landscapes inspire the guests of the ice hotel. Observation of the northern lights, an excursion experience on the road to Karasjok, one of the last wild regions of Europe, or even a wedding in the sculpted chapel...
