Unusual night in a toue cabanée
Presentation
Practical information
The pleasures of la dolce vita at the crossroads of Burgundy and Auvergne.
The Demoiselles dragonflies wander leisurely here in the summer, and it is in their honor that this buzzing holiday village bears their name.
On a 3-hectare pond, 12 "toues cabanées" were installed to welcome the first vacationers to the "Village Toue du Domaine des Demoiselles - SlowMoov ou Village Toue du Domaine des Demoiselles" in spring 2014.
A "toue"?? "Toues cabanées" are traditional boats that used to sail the Loire and have now been reimagined as wooden accommodations offering breathtaking views of nature. These are crafted from larch timber in a Burgundy shipyard.
For relaxation, everything is set up, both on board and around.
Using a small cart, you carry your belongings to the boat before reaching your "toue." Most of the "toues" await you in the middle of the pond, although some are accessible from the shore. Throughout your stay, you have a private boat at your disposal to move around as you wish. So grab your oars!
On board, up to five people share the space. In the living-dining area, three beds complement the double bed (160x190) in the adjacent bedroom. Upon your arrival, all beds are made, and towels and household linen are provided. A kitchenette, a bathroom (shower cabin and sink), separate toilets (eco-friendly system for water treatment!), and a furnished terrace at the front of the boat make your 4* floating room complete.
Associated with the concept of unusual accommodation, slow travel is the second idea promoted here. The setting is perfect, nestled between the Loire and the Canal du Centre, near the Digoin canal bridge and the EuroVelo 6.
What a pleasure it is to connect tourist sites through an original, slow, and eco-friendly mode of transportation. Boat rides without a license, stand-up paddleboarding, or canoeing on Burgundy's canals will delight everyone. Exploring vineyards and green hills with a donkey or on a mountain bike, discovering Charolais and its cows on an electric scooter or by foot, traveling a few kilometers on the EuroVelo6, or simply heading to the Digoin canal bridge will make you fall in love with this area.
Children will undoubtedly love the ObservaLoire in Digoin, an interactive and educational museum that tells the story of this wild river's richness, as well as the playground, mini-farm, and vegetable garden specially designed for them at the Domaine des Demoiselles. The little ones will enjoy the curiosities and open spaces of this nature village in Auvergne.
Why not gather here with friends or family and, when night falls, everyone retires to their own "toue cabanée"?
✩ Open from March to mid-November ✩
