B&B arty & unusual in l'Isle sur la Sorgue
Presentation
Practical information
The Provençal Venice will hold no more secrets for you.
For four centuries, the auberge du Cheval Blanc welcomed travelers in this waterside village nestled at the foot of the Lubéron. Today, the mansion houses five modern and designer guest rooms, decorated with original pieces handpicked by Yves de Montigny, the owner.
In the interior courtyard, you can already hear the cicadas. At the foot of the fountain, a century-old olive tree provides shade to a small garden with designer furniture. The tone is set. In the living room of the Artishow house, Stark furniture sits alongside pieces by Laudren. The rooms, modern and welcoming, dedicate their spaces to painting. Each one honors an artist whose fate is linked to Provence: Mondrian, Paul Cézanne, Victor Vasarely, Yvon Prével, or Max B.
Once settled, admire the village from the terrace or the footbridge. One offers a view of the Dentelles de Montmirail and the Rhône Valley in the distance. The other overlooks the Arquet, one of the many branches of the river that winds through L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue. After a stroll through the alleys of this waterside village, the more inspired may meditate on a few poems by René Char before visiting the museum that bears his name, while the more curious will head to Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, where the river has its source. A moment of relaxation in your guesthouse, take time to unwind in the spa or the pool—after all, isn't it the weekend?
Why Artishow? Like a show-room for this former New York art dealer. But also a nod to his Breton origins.
