At the beginning of the 2014 season, the camping site "Les avions de Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef ou Camping du Haut Village" comes alive, and everyone is busy preparing their caravan or mobile home before reuniting with their holiday friends and habits.
But this year again, Guillaume Staub and his team - Charlotte, Émilien, and Christophe - worked hard through the winter... and their achievements will surprise more than one!
March 2014, a prototype of Skylander, the 2nd airplane of the camping
Last March, an airplane found its place by the pond of the camping. The traditional fishing contest presided over by Jeanette is likely to be eventful with the arrival of this novelty.
Inside the fuselage of this airplane, a prototype of Skylander, the cabin interior has been entirely redesigned to accommodate a couple with (or without) children. A double bed and a kitchen area, a shower, and a toilet. In the cockpit, a junior bed is next to the pilot's seat and the controls, making it a dream play area.
This first and unique prototype intended for wind tunnel tests has never flown, but once aboard, you feel like the owner of a jet due to the refined staging and details. The meal tray trolley branded Air France and the real seats will immediately set the mood. Kitchen corner, covered terrace shaped like a wing.
March 2013, a Grumman Gulfstream from 1963, the 1st airplane of the camping
A few meters further, another airplane with a different story awaits you.
This time, it is a 19-seat Grumman Gulfstream (1963) that flew under the colors of Air Méditerranée. Aviation enthusiasts will recognize the control levers right away! A quick reminder: Grumman is also the manufacturer of the famous Tomcat, which became globally renowned thanks to Tom Cruise's feats in the movie Top Gun.
An 'Itin'air Formation' still visible on the fuselage reminds us that it was used as an accident simulator in a flight crew training school. Purchased in Toulouse, it has been living a second youth at the "Les avions de Saint-Michel-Chef-Chef ou Camping du Haut Village" since March 2013 and delights families looking for something unique. With a double bed (140 cm) and two single beds (70 cm), four people can comfortably stay inside. Shower, toilets (in the cockpit, in place of the co-pilot), kitchen corner, and a covered terrace shaped like a wing.
*A Kiss Landing is a very smooth landing, without bouncing, where it feels as though the airplane kissed the landing strip.
