How about a dacha to enjoy the sweetness of Angevin life?
To experience the gentle way of life in Anjou, this weekend let’s visit the Château des Briottières, a romantic 18th-century family château with its gilding, silks, canopy beds, and fine dining.
In their magnificent English-style park, François and Hedwige de Valbray have envisioned a place to make your own. Amidst 50 hectares and centuries-old trees, there’s a lovely all-wood cottage you might call a dacha. With a sauna and a wood stove, you can already picture yourself there!
Between a dip in the heated pool and a game of tennis, a beautiful stroll through the park - pond, aviary, and birds, the day flies by. The candles are lit in the dining room and the individual tables are set; the aperitif can be served to guests by the fireplace or in the park, before dining at precisely 8 PM. A single menu inspired daily by family and regional recipes.
Before retiring to our rooms, some in the château, others in the Fruitier - the former orangery - and us, to our luxury cabin in the park, we’ll have coffee or a digestif in the library.
