The adventure of Katarina Lidberg and Håkan Hising began in 2012 as part of a discussion around a table.
Their motto: to find a place to build an igloo village that is easily accessible and close to activities, with, of course, a sufficient amount of snow and a stunning view.
It is in Jämtland, and more specifically in Åre, one of the most important winter sports resorts in Scandinavia, that the project came to fruition.
Located on the south slope of Mount Åreskutan, with a view of the Åredalen valley, Igloo Åre sets up its winter quarters at the forest's edge, on the border between vast snowy expanses and arctic birches to stay well-protected from the wind, even under a few meters of snow.
Family igloos, duo igloos, or VIP packages, the igloos are rebuilt each year to meet all your needs. Once Mother Nature provides enough raw material to begin construction, the village starts to take shape (each igloo requires about 3000 hours of work, and if you'd like to participate in the building process, feel free to contact Katarina and Håkan).
Whether it's for a special occasion as a couple, with family, or with friends, or simply a desire to have a unique experience and bring back incredible memories from your trip to Sweden, Igloo Åre welcomes you from late December until mid-April.

Rates 2017-2018, from 3300 SEK per night for two, all-inclusive. Private Igloo for 2 people, 3300 SEK
Accommodation for 2 people on a bed of snow and ice covered with skins, sleeping bag designed for polar cold, hot drink before breakfast, breakfast, one jacuzzi session.
All overnight stays include the loan of sleeping bags and polar sheets.
