Primitive hut in the Swedish forest
Presentation
Practical information
Back to nature in these troll huts
This looks like a forest troll’s cabin but is actually an eco-lodge located in Sweden, hidden deep in the woods, two hours’ drive from Stockholm.
In this unique natural retreat, without running water or electricity, you escape modern life for a stay focused on silence and sustainable tourism.
Back to basics in the lush green forest of Bergslagen. To start, let's prepare warm and appropriate clothing, as you'll need to handle an axe to chop wood. In our wooden hut covered with earth, with two or three beds and sheep skins, a few candles, and the crackling of the fire becomes essential again.
In the early morning, we slowly wake up to the sound of birdsong and head to refresh ourselves in Lake Skärsjön or warm up in the floating sauna.
Swimming, fishing, canoeing to explore this beautiful lake, or hiking to discover the forest will be gentle activities alongside survival courses or guided tours tracking beavers, moose, or wolves that inhabit the forest. You are more likely to hear their calls than to see them, although...
The huts are built in the style of charcoal burners' huts, where forestry workers used to sleep in the forest during logging and charcoal-making operations. A 400-year-old tradition that some, like Andreas Ahlsen, the owner, want to keep alive and share. So, are you ready to take on the adventure and live like Robin Hood with your partner or your children?
