Kustwachttoren

Unpronounceable name for an impregnable tower (recommended for lovers of the open sea).

You can't miss it. It towers over the small village of Huisduinen, in Holland. Even though the red lighthouse stands a few meters taller than the Kustwachttoren, you'll still sleep high up, on the fifth floor of this renovated coastguard tower. Once you've climbed the floors, you're home for a few days.

Take the time to explore this unique apartment. Three floors to make your own. The balcony wraps around the tower. The French windows immerse you in the landscape. Wherever you are, the view is spectacular over the lands of North Holland, the Noorderhaaks sandbank, or the island of Texel separated from the mainland by the Marsdiep. With or without binoculars, you can watch the seals lounging on the sand before lounging yourself in one of the armchairs in the spacious living area.

After exploring the region, with its historical sites, heather moors, and sand dunes, you'll have earned a trip down to the beach to enjoy an aperitif while admiring the sunset. Then, there's just one decision to make: cook a delicious dinner at the top of your tower with regional products, or enjoy a romantic meal at one of the local restaurants.
