Troglodyte nights in Beaumes-de-Venise
Presentation
Practical information
Troglodyte guest house at the foot of Mont Ventoux.
The taste of a glass of wine enjoyed in the shade of the stones, as the heat of a summer day subsides, is Provence as one dreams it.
In the heart of the vineyards bordering Mont Ventoux, Le Clos Saint Saourde rises with its stone tower.
This 18th-century guesthouse offers two rooms and two suites of rare elegance. Separate from the main building, an independent house with its own swimming pool accommodates groups of up to 10 people.
In this Provençal farmhouse built directly into the rock, every room highlights the beauty of the mineral without compromising the traveler's comfort. The alcove of the Beaulieu room, carved into the stone, becomes a bench with soft cushions.
At the end of a day in the open air, the walker relaxes in the sculpted rock bathtub of the Zellige room. In summer, coolness is guaranteed; when the first chills arrive, underfloor heating ensures a cozy stay.
In the Middle Ages, the popes of Avignon particularly appreciated the muscat wine produced by the vineyards of Beaumes-de-Venise visible nearby. Today, it is the visitor to Le Clos Saint Saourde who marvels at a troglodyte night on the Côte du Rhône wine route, near Vacqueyras.
