Eco-Bivouac, summer-winter igloo village
Presentation
Practical information
Funny domes have landed in the Maurienne Valley
The ski resort Saint-Francois Longchamp hosted for the first time in 2014 the Village d'igloos de Saint-Francois Longchamp, created by Alpes Bivouac, a company from Annecy specializing in eco-designed accommodations.
Snow igloos, naturally made from snow, and panoramic-roof spheres called alti-domes are set up around a large energy-autonomous dome, a true communal living space where snacks, meals, and candlelit evenings are shared among enthusiasts of unique overnight stays.
At this base camp located 2000m above sea level, the four alti-domes will host lovers of cozy bivouacs. In these unique outdoor accommodations, adventurers stay in real beds, watching the sky through the panoramic roof and enjoying the crackling of the wood stove. A warm and close-to-nature stay that can be shared by two, three, or four people per dome throughout the year.
From December to April, genuine natural snow igloos accommodate two to five novice Inuits. Inflatable mattresses on wooden floors, animal skins, and sleeping bags suitable for extreme cold expeditions will assuage all your comfort concerns!
Nature bivouacs accessible to everyone, an idea developed by Alpes Bivouac across three sites in France.
Winter season from December 20, 2014, to April 19, 2015.
Summer season, from June 6 to October 17, 2015
