Unusual night on the banks of the Loire
Presentation
Practical information
Boarding for an unusual night. Temporary installation!
The Imaginary Nights of Terre d'Estuaire have been an unmissable event since 2013 to enjoy a true space-time getaway for two and experience an adventure close to home.
Unique and temporary accommodations offer each year the chance to explore exceptional locations along the Loire, on its northern and southern banks, between Nantes and Saint-Nazaire. After the lovely transparent bubbles of previous years, for its 2017 edition, Loirestua selected two of the seven projects imagined by the master's students in "Architecture in Representation" from the National School of Architecture of Nantes (Ensa): La Bienveilleuse and Le Caballon de M. Plocq.
Le Caballon de M. Plocq (designed by Aurélie Poirrier, Vincent O’Connor, Igor-Vassili Pouchkarevtch-Dragoche -Ensa 2016) takes us into the universe of Emile Plocq, a whimsical Vendée ornithologist and his extraordinary exploration vessel, part ship, part balloon, as it might have existed.
Made of wood and tarpaulin, over 6m long and 3m wide, it landed near a body of water located on the heights of Saint-Viaud (southern bank). Its construction began at the "La Cale 2 l’île" site in Nantes. The expertise of the association in naval construction was essential since the Caballon had to float on water before settling on land and then taking to the air.
It's time to board!
..:: Shared Skills ::.. The construction of Le Caballon de M. Plocq began at La Cale 2 l’Ile (an association for the preservation of maritime and river heritage) in Nantes before being continued and completed by the professional integration association Atao.
..:: 2021 ::.. In 2021, Le Caballon de M. Plocq moves to a new destination on the banks of the Loire, yet to be determined.
✯ Open from mid-April to mid-October ✯
